Trojan's Donal O'Neill set a new Irish record in the final of the Mens' 100m Butterfly at the 8th annual Leisureland International meet in Galway. O'Neill won in an impressive time of 54.55 seconds, cutting 0.55 seconds off the previous Irish Record.
The three-day event is acknowledged as the premier event for Irish competitors in this country as it gives them the opportunity to compete with world-class swimmers and offers them a level of competition they otherwise would not have access to. Unfortunately, due to overseas commitments, the Irish Olympic swimmers of Chantal Gibney, Andrew Bree, Emma Robinson and Colin Lowth will not be participating in Galway this weekend.
