Sligo Rovers manager Owen Heary has added Liam O’Brien and Joseph Ndo to his backroom team as the Bit o' Red look to address their disappointing start to the season.
Heary has yet to win a SSE Airtricity Premier Division game as Sligo manager and they currently sit bottom of the table after six matches.
Former Republic of Ireland international O'Brien began his coaching career as player-coach at Bohemians in 2000 and then had spells as assistant manager at both Bohs, St Patrick’s Athletic and Shamrock Rovers.
He was also Pat Fenlon’s assistant manager at Hibernian. Heary was part of the Bohs squad that was managed by Fenlon and O'Brien.
Ndo won six trophies with Sligo during his decorated playing career and makes a first move into coaching after retiring aged 38 at the end of the 2014 season.
Heary said: “It’s definitely good to have them both on board. Liam brings a lot of experience here. He has played at the highest level for clubs like Manchester United and Newcastle United and been an international with Ireland. He has also coached at a high level with Hibernian and brings plenty of experience to our staff.
“Joseph will bring some new ideas to the coaching side. He has only recently finished playing and will be able to bring that experience into coaching. I think that they can both bring a lot to the club and help improve results.”
Heary worked under O’Brien while he was at Bohs and played alongside Ndo at Shelbourne and the Gypsies: “I won the league while I played under Liam at Bohs so I know him well and how he works.
"He will add a lot in preparing players for games. I played with and against Joey many times so I know how good he is and that is why I am bringing him in.”
