Cyrus Christie and David McGoldrick have been named in the Republic of Ireland squad to play Scotland and USA, while Marc Wilson and Glenn Whelan are among the absentees because of injury.

Christie, a defender at Derby, and the highly-rated Ipswich striker McGoldrick, become eligible for Ireland after their documentation was finalised in the last week.

Wilson is ruled out because of the hamstring injury suffered while playing for Stoke yesterday against Tottenham.

Whelan has failed to recover from the leg injury suffered in the previous qualifier against Germany.

Goalkeeper Kieron Westwood is not in the 27-man squad, also because of injury.

Brian Lenihan, Stephen Kelly, Paul McShane, Damien Delaney, Shane Duffy, Paul Green, Simon Cox and Conor Sammon are the other players that miss out from the original squad.

Lenihan will link-up with the Under-21 side.
