Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba will miss next week's Champions League semi-final meeting with Real Madrid, despite making good progress following a thigh injury.

The 22-year-old Frenchman has been out of action since mid-March due to a torn thigh muscle and has stepped up his recovery as a two-legged showdown with the European champions draws ever closer.

The first game takes place in Turin on Tuesday, May 5, but Pogba will only make his return to training a day later.

A statement released by Juventus on Thursday read: "The MRI scan taken by Paul Pogba this afternoon revealed that the player has made further progress in his recovery from a torn thigh muscle.

"The player will undergo a personalised recovery regime before potentially returning to full training with the group on Wednesday."

The former Manchester United player has scored nine goals in all competitions for the Serie A leaders so far this season, including the winner against Olympiacos back in the Champions League group stages.
