Dundalk have ended their long-standing legal problems surrounding the lease of their home ground of Oriel Park.

The League of Ireland champions have now taken full ownership of the lease pertaining to the ground from property developer Gerry Mathews and will immediately set about planning a significant upgrade at the stadium.

The club have already been visited by a pitch specialist and hope to have a new playing surface in place for the start of the 2017 season.

Stephen Kenny’s side are back in Europa League action this week as they take on AZ Alkmaar at Tallaght Stadium.
