Greg Bolger said he'll give everything he has to the Cork City cause as they look to keep the heat on Dundalk at the top of the table and continue their European odyssey.

Cork are six points off the league leaders in second place with a game in hand and will face Swedish side BK Häcken in the Europa League second qualifying round on Thursday after they edged past Linfield last week.

Bolger received the SSE Airtricity/SWAI Player of the month award for June thanks to some all-action displays in the middle of the park, and is desperate to reel in Stephen Kenny's reigning champions.

"The other night (against Linfield) we didn't make it easier on ourselves, but we got through the tie and it's great for the club financially," he said.

"Hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves going out to Sweden.

"We just need to stick in there and hopefully some team can do us a favour."

"Dundalk don't seem like dropping points. It's getting tougher for us. We need to win every game. We need to keep winning and hopefully they drop a few points along the way.

"We just need to stick in there and hopefully some team can do us a favour and take a few points off them."

Caulfield remoulded his team in the wake of their FAI Cup defeat to the double-winning Lilywhites, bringing 27-year-old Bolger to Leeside from St Pat's as part of an off-season shake-up.

They remain in Dundalk's shadow for now, but Bolger is confident the ingredients are there to close the gap.

"We've settled well as a team and a squad," he said. "It's been good. It feels like I've been here a while; it's that kind of dressing room, that kind of vibe.

"I'm just trying to give the best performances myself I can for the team and help the team climb the table and push Dundalk all the way. They're the form team, they've set the standards over the last few years."
