Brady raring to go after injury scare

Republic of Ireland international midfielder Robbie Brady is raring to go at Euro 2016, having shaken off an earlier injury scare.

Brady had been forced to sit out several training sessions with the rest of Martin O’Neill’s squad due to a freak back spasm injury.

The Norwich midfielder explained how picking his daughter up out of a bath led to the injury scare.

“I had a couple of days off, a little bit of free time,” he explained to RTÉ Sport. “I was at home and I went to down to pick my little girl out of the bath and my back went into a bit of a spasm.

“Naturally at the time I panicked a little bit, I rang the doctor and within 24 hours it settled down a little bit so with a couple of days rest and back out training today, I felt great.

“I feel great, I’m ready to go and I’m ready for selection.”

Now that he's been given a clean bill of health, Brady is eager to get the tournament underway as Ireland face Sweden in their opening game.

"As soon as we got into the camp you could feel the buzz straight away and it just made it feel real, landing here, putting the suits on and getting into the hotel.

"It’s finally here and we’re all going to relish it and hopefully pick up some memorable results," he added.
