The FAI has revealed that following the closure of the UEFA ticketing portal for Euro 2016, over 275,00 ticket applications were made for the Republic of Ireland's three group games.

For the matches against Sweden, Belgium and Italy, there is a combined total allocation of 26,000 tickets available for Irish fans and with the huge figure applied for this indicates just how heavily over-subscribed each fixture is.

While it is impossible to meet the demand of each ticket request, the FAI said it will endeavour to reward the most loyal supporters.

UEFA will contact each applicant to inform them of the timeline expected for payments to be taken, while all applicants will be informed of their final status by 29 February at the latest.

Ticket allocation for the Republic of Ireland's Group E games:

Republic of Ireland v Sweden, 13 June, Stade de France, Paris - 13,000
Belgium v Republic of Ireland, 18 June, Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux - 6,000
Italy v Republic of Ireland, 22 June, Stade Pierre-Mauroy, Lille - 7,000

The FAI also revealed that the Republic of Ireland were among the top five countries in terms of volume of demand for tickets alongside Poland, France, Austria and Switzerland and that the game against Sweden is in the top three in terms of applications alongside the clash of German and Poland and Portugal and Austria.

For each participating National Association at EURO 2016, a total of 2,000 tickets have been awarded by UEFA. The FAI intends to distribute these tickets, once the ticketing process is complete, to unsuccessful applicants with a proven match attendance track record, and to the 'Football Family'.

This number is not included in the overall allocation figure, listed above.
