Everton manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that both Aiden McGeady and Darron Gibson could be sold during the January transfer window.

The Republic of Ireland duo have struggled to force their way into Martinez's team this season and with the European Championships looming, will both be eager for more playing time before the summer.

McGeady has just one appearance for the Toffees this season, while Gibson has featured in five games and both have been the subject of transfer speculation.

Celtic had been linked with McGeady although manager Ronny Delia warned about his wages, while Championship teams Middlesbrough and Derby and believed to be interested in both McGeady and Gibson.

Martinez signalled that he is willing to listen to offers for both of the Irish players and said: "We have had a lot of interest in Darron Gibson and Aiden McGeady and they are two players that we need to sit down and consider what is the next step.

"They have been working very well in training and it has been disappointing for them not to have enough minutes on the pitch.

"They need to be playing until the end of the season due to the opportunity of playing for Ireland in the Euros," he added.

"They deserve to have special attention at this stage of the season. They haven't played enough and now is a good opportunity to see if the second half of the season can be a good one."
