Stoke have rejected a bid from Norwich for Republic of Ireland international Jonathan Walters, it is understood.
The Canaries have reportedly made a £1.5million offer for the 31-year-old forward which was turned down by the Potters.
The news, emerging on Friday, comes a day before the two clubs play each other at Carrow Road in the Barclays Premier League.
Walters has been with Stoke since joining them from Ipswich in 2010, making over 200 appearances in all competitions for the Staffordshire outfit and scoring 50 goals.
He netted 11 times for them last season, and has started both of their games so far this term.
But it will be interesting to see if he retains his place against Norwich - not least because Stoke now have £12million record signing Xherdan Shaqiri available and another playmaker, Bojan Krkic, back fit after long-term injury.
The likes of Ibrahim Afellay and Marko Arnautovic are also options making for major competition in the Stoke squad for places in the attack.
Walters' current contract with the club runs out next summer.
West Brom's move for Tottenham's Federico Fazio has broken down after the deal stalled over personal terms.
The defender was at the club's training ground on Friday morning after the Baggies agreed a £5million deal with Spurs.
He passed a medical but Albion have been unable to reach an agreement with Fazio and are now actively pursuing other targets.
It is understood the transfer could be revived as a loan deal but the Baggies are considering other options ahead of revisiting any move for the Argentina international.
Boss Tony Pulis was confident of signing the 28-year-old, saying: "He wants to show that he can not only compete but do well in the Premier League and I think that ambition, drive and desire is what you need in your club.
"He's been a top player for Sevilla and I think he will be a top signing for the club."
Fazio joined Spurs from Sevilla last year and played 31 times for the club last season but is yet to feature this term after the arrival of Toby Alderweireld.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez says he is not aware of any transfer request being made by Toffees defender John Stones.
Chelsea had pre-season bids of £20million and £26million for Stones rejected and Everton refused to comment on Tuesday about reports that they had turned down a third offer of £30million from the London club.
It was, though, understood the Merseysiders' stance that the 21-year-old England international is not for sale remained firm, and it has since been reported that Stones is on the brink of handing in a transfer request.
But asked on Friday if he was aware of that being the situation, Martinez - speaking at his press conference to preview Sunday's home Barclays Premier League clash with Manchester City - said: "Not at all, no."
The Spaniard added that he would have no hesitation in including Stones in his plans for Sunday's game.
Diego Godin has signed a contract extension with Atletico Madrid until 2019.
The 29-year-old, who is captain of Uruguay as well as Atletico, has become a key figure at the Estadio Vicente Calderon since signing in 2010.
He has been part of the team which has won a league title, one Copa del Rey, the Europa League, two European Super Cups and a Spanish Super Cup.
Godin tweeted: "I'm happy and proud to continue to be a part of this great family that is Atletico. Thanks to everyone!"
A statement from Atletico read: "His great quality has attracted the attention of numerous clubs this summer but Godin has always wanted to continue to be tied to Atletico."
Real Madrid defender Pepe has signed a one-year contract extension. The Portugal international's previous deal expired in June 2016.
A statement from Real Madrid read: "Pepe has extended his contract for another season and will remain tied to the club until June 30, 2017."
Pepe has made 195 appearances since joining Los Blancos from FC Porto in the summer of 2007 for a fee of 30 million euros.
The 32-year-old centre-back made 25 league starts for Real last season to help the club finished second in La Liga.
Earlier this week, Real extended the contract of Spanish defender Sergio Ramos until June 2020.
Pepe and Ramos are expected to start when Real begin their Primera Division campaign at promoted Sporting Gijon on Sunday.
