Bray Wanderers have announced former St Patrick's Athletic majority shareholder Gerry Mulvey as a new investor, with Mulvey and chairman Denis O’Connor owning 92% of the Seagulls.
Mulvey possesses 80% of Milway Dawn Limited, with the remaining 20% held by O’Connor, and the company owns 92% of Bray Wanderers Limited, according to the statement.
Mulvey will join the boards of both companies with O’Connor remaining as chairman.
Mulvey owned around 60% of St. Patrick’s Athletic before the Inchicore club was purchased by Garrett Kelleher in 2007.
Mulvey said: “I’ve missed the involvement in recent years so hopefully Saturday evenings in the Carlisle Grounds will help to make up for lost time. The team’s recent great performances and results, together with the appointments of Mick Cooke and Harry Kenny, appear to suggest that the recent hiccups can soon be put firmly behind us.
“Despite the sizeable investment in St Pat's, the club would not have been turned around without the voluntary involvement of very many people from the board right down to those providing the tea and sambos at half-time.
“Back then I was always impressed by the number of volunteers playing their part on match nights in the Carlisle Grounds. I noticed it again last Saturday against Derry City FC and I’m looking forward to being a part of that in the future.
“During my time at Richmond Park I’ve dabbled in match-ticket sales, programme sales and the weekly Football Forecasts so I greatly appreciate the roles played by all volunteers. Long may they continue to play their part in promoting football in Ireland.”
O’Connor said that he hopes this is the beginning of a new future for Bray Wanderers.
