Jamaica have formally invited Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison to declare for their country and help them reach the World Cup. Jamaica's technical director Clovis de Oliveira held talks with the 21-year-old last week in London and Morrison is now considering all his options. The Crystal Palace star is also eligible to declare for the Republic of Ireland and England and said recently he would be most interested in playing for England although he would not rule out any opportunity to play international football.
Republic of Ireland boss Mick McCarthy had expressed interest in the striker but when he heard about Morrison's comments regarding his preference for England, McCarthy said he had reconsidered his decision to call him up to the Irish squad. However, Morrison has expressed his intention to travel to Dublin later this month to attend Ireland's friendly against Denmark at Lansdowne Road and attempt to set up a meeting with McCarthy to smooth things over.
