Grand Slam winner Paddy Reid dies aged 91

Paddy Reid, a member of Ireland’s 1948 Grand Slam-winning team, has passed away aged 91.

Born in Limerick, Reid was a Garryowen legend and after winning the Grand Slam moved to England to play rugby league with Huddersfield and Halifax.

He won four caps with Ireland at outside centre, making his debut against Australia during the 1947/48 tour.

The Irish Rugby Football Union issued its condolences to his family.
