Rugby: Patterson seeks move to Scotland

Scotland international Derrick Patterson is set to spark a scramble for his services after his contract with French champions Stade Francais expired. Patterson, 32, ended his overseas career on a massive high when he helped capture the French League title. But he is now aiming for a return to Britain, with Scotland a favoured destination.

“I'm out of contract with Stade Francais and while I believe it will be time to move on, recognising that at 32, I won't last forever as a player, I believe I still have things to offer,” said Patterson. “I'm now in better condition than I have been in years and the injuries which restricted the amount of rugby I was able to play in the last few seasons have now cleared and left me raring to go. I feel I can still contribute and want to start more games than I've been managing. Although a player-coach job abroad has appeal in the short term, my long term future will, hopefully, lie in Scotland.”
