The curtain came down on the British National Hunt season at Sandown on Saturday, but racing fans on this side of the Irish Sea will get one last chance to see some of the sport’s biggest stars at this week’s Punchestown Festival, which will be broadcast live on RTÉ.

Television coverage from the Tuesday to Friday will begin on RTÉ One at 4pm, with the final hour of live televised action each day moving to RTÉ2 at 5.55pm.

The five-day extravaganza concludes on Saturday, with Robert Hall, Ted Walsh and the team on air from 2.50 pm to 5.55.

You can also watch all the action on RTÉ Player.

We’ll also have live text commentary on RTÉ.ie and previews daily from tipster Declan Meagher.

Vautour drops in trip to contest the Boylesports Champion Chase on the opening day of the Festival, while Cue Card will be a warm order for Wednesday’s Bibby Financial Services Ireland Punchestown Gold Cup after his devastating display at Aintree last time out.

Stamina will have to be displayed to take Thursday’s feature Ladbrokes Champion Stayers Hurdle where Alpha Des Obeaux is likely to go off favourite in the absence of Thistlecrack, who met with a small setback last week.

Annie Power has swept aside all the challengers she’s encountered this season and heads Friday’s Betdaq Punchestown Champion Hurdle, while Saturday’s card includes the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Champion Hurdle.
