Gymnast Kieran Behan was Ireland's star performer at the inaugural European Games in Azerbaijan today, qualifying for the individual floor final in Baku.
Behan finished fifth of 78 competitors in qualification in the floor exercise, securing one of just six final places.
The 26-year-old lies 18th in the all-round competition after three disciplines, which is the last qualification spot for the final.
Daniel Fox is 48th overall.
Ellis O'Reilly is 50th in the women's all-round competition after two events. Nicole Mawhinney is 55th, with Tara Donnelly 74th.
Gordon Benson became Britain's first European Games gold medallist after claiming victory in the triathlon at Bilgah Beach on the outskirts of Baku as Ireland’s Russell White finished 36th in Azerbaijan.
Benson burst clear of his rivals at the beginning of the running phase to claim victory by 11 seconds from Portugal's Joao Silva with Rostyslav Pevtsov of Azerbaijan in third.
As a result of his win Benson has automatically qualified for a British quota slot at next year's Rio Olympics.
Limerick’s Aaron O’Brien failed to finish the event.
In canoe sprint, Jennifer Egan has qualified for Tuesday's B final of the kayak single (K1) 500m event.
Egan finished sixth in her heat and advanced to the semi-finals where she was seventh of nine competitors.
Peter Egan and Simas Dobrovolskis qualified in seventh for this semi-finals of the kayak double (K2) 1000m and finished last of nine .
Galway's Karen Dolphin failed to advance from her pool in the kata discipline in the karate event.
Dolphin lost all three of her matches against Spain's Sandra Sanchez, France's Sandy Scordo and Veronika Miskova of the Czech Republic.
