Polish gymnast Joanna Skowronska was diagnosed with a broken cervical vertebra on Saturday, two days after she fell from the asymmetric bars while training in Athens.
Olympic gymnastics officials said the 22-year-old was in a stable condition in a local hospital. The cervical vertebrae are in the neck.
Argentina's Celeste Carnevale, the first reserve gymnast, is expected to take Skowronska's place in the competition.
