UFC president Dana White has revealed that Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo will clash for the UFC featherweight title in a unification bout at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on 12 December.

There had been talk of the fight taking place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on 5 December as there is a concert scheduled for the MGM that evening; however, the UFC have now pushed the fight back to 12 December, with Ronda Rousey's bantamweight bout with Miesha Tate making way for the much anticipated fight between the Irishman and his Brazilian rival.

The Mandalay Bay Events Center was also touted as a venue, but White and the UFC believed it to be too small for the event with only an 11,000 capacity.

McGregor currently holds the interim belt, having defeated Chad Mendes for that honour at the MGM Grand after Jose Aldo pulled out of the bout with rib injury caused during a sparring accident.

White, speaking to Yahoo Sports, said he was happy with the decision and that it lead to less clashes with other sporting events, saying "there's nothing going [that would impact us] in sports."

White also revealed that Rousey versus Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino will not form part of the card on 12 December, despite reports in the media suggesting the opposite over the last number of days.
