The Credit Suisse Private Banking Open has been cancelled after further heavy rain in Switzerland. Just 45 minutes play was possible in Ascona this morning before the downpour returned which led to the nearby Lake Maggiore overflowing and flooding several holes.
The Challenge Tour tournament has been ravaged by continuous rain since before the start of play on Thursday and only half of the field of 156 players managed to complete one round. No play was possible yesterday and those at the back of the field only completed a handful of holes this morning before play was suspended again. When the lake overflowed it was decided to cancel the tournament.
