Padraig Harrington has missed out on securing his place at next month’s US Open at Chambers Bay.
He finished with a bogey five on the 18th hole of his second round at the qualifying event at Walton Heath and dropped just outside the qualifying mark.
"It was disappointing to bogey the last," Harrington said. "I nearly walked off after four holes this morning so I was surprised to have a chance at all.
"It was nice to get a run going on the back nine. It's one too many, so it is disappointing, especially after making a few birdies and getting inside the mark."
The triple major winner headed the list of entries for the 36-hole US Open qualifying event on the outskirts of London.
An injury to his left shoulder forced Harrington to pull out of last week's BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth during the first round.
Harrington missed the US Open last year for the first time since 1999.
The Dubliner will now start preparing for the Irish Open that starts on Thursday.
Peter Lawrie and Gareth Maybin also missed out.
The top nine finishers secured places at the Washington State event from 18-21 June and that group includes event winner Alexander Levy and runner-up Shiv Kapur.
