Former Laois hurling captain Brian Campion has retired from inter-county hurling.
Campion won three Laois SHC medals and is a former Laois Hurler of the Year.
The Rathdowney-Errill defender had lined out in the O’Moore County’s rearguard since 2005.
Laois manager Seamus 'Cheddar' Plunkett has paid tribute to Campion’s long-serving contribution to the county’s hurling.
“He was a fantastic servant to Laois hurling, a fantastic person first of all and a great character – I simply couldn’t say enough about Brian Campion as a person and for what he has given Laois hurling,” said Plunkett.
“He’s a major, major loss to us and he gave everything he had to us for as long as he had and that’s something to be able to say about a Laois hurler.
“On behalf of Laois hurlers and supporters I would like to thank him for what he has done for Laois hurling.”
