Allianz Football League Division 3 round-up

Fermanagh confirmed their place in the Allianz NFL Division 3 Final, while there were also wins for Tipperary and Limerick this afternoon.

Fermanagh impressed throughout in their 1-12 to 0-07 win over Wexford at Wexford Park.

The visitors led by 1-05 to 0-03 at half-time, with Sean Quigley (1-04) netting a penalty goal just before the interval.

Barry Mulrone, Tomas Corrigan, Ryan Jones, Ciaran Flaherty and Eoin Donnelly were also on target for Pete McGrath's side in this game, which saw the sides level early on, before Fermanagh pulled away.

Ciaran Lyng, Tiernan Rossiter, Ben Brosnan, Kevin O'Grady and Eoghan Nolan kept Wexford in touch, but Fermanagh made full use of a strong wind assistance in the opening half, and continued to work hard on the restart.

Tipperary maintained third spot, but their 0-15 to 0-13 win over Sligo at Semple Stadium came at a cost, following an injury to Colin O'Riordan.

The game was held up for over 20 minutes in the second half due to a neck injury to the Templemore man, which will leave the Under 21 Captain doubtful ahead of his side's Munster final against Cork in less than a fortnight.

Tipperary moved 0-11 to 0-10 ahead, after Conor Sweeney slotted over a free, before the long layoff due to O'Riordan's injury.

Despite a 20-minute break, Tipperary failed to lose momentum, with scores from Robbie Kiely, Philip Austin and Brian Mulvihill pushing them 0-14 to 0-12 in front.

Niall Murphy responded for Sligo, but substitute Kevin Fox landed the final score, as Tipperary emerged two-point winners when the full-time whistle sounded in the 92nd minute.

Limerick picked up their second win of the campaign after a 2-10 to 1-05 double scores win over Munster rivals Clare at Newcastlewest.

Wind assisted Limerick led by 1-04 to 0-03 at half-time, with Seanie Buckley netting a first quarter goal.

Clare cut the gap to a point inside 10 minutes of the restart, with Pat Burke converting a penalty after a foul on Podge Collins.

However Clare failed to score in the final 26 minutes, with Peter Nash netting the hosts second goal two minutes from time, on the way to an eight-point win.

These results mean five teams are fighting against relegation next week, with Sligo, Clare, Louth, Limerick and Wexford all still potentially making the drop to Division 4 for 2016.
