Paddy O’Rourke has informed the Armagh county board of his intention to step down as manager of the county’s senior football squad.
O’Rourke’s three-year term finished on Sunday after the Orchard county were beaten by Roscommon in the All-Ireland qualifiers.
The board went on to thank the Down native for his commitment during his time in charge.
Oisín McConville speaking about O'Rourke's time in charge said on RTÉ Radio's Take Your Point said: "We got promotion the first year to Division 1. That was success on his part. I think since that we have gone backwards, and I think Paddy would be the first one to say that himself. I'm sure he's as disappointed as anybody this evening.
"It's probably not the time to start having a go at Paddy and his backroom team.
"I actually think this runs a little bit deeper than that. I think we have an apathy towards our county team at the minute and I think we need to get everybody on board.
