Brian Cody will be back for more next year after the Kilkenny County Board confirmed he would be staying on as the county's senior hurling manager for 2017.

Michael Dempsey, James Mc Garry and Derek Lyng will continue as selectors and Sunday Game panellist Eddie Brennan is retained as U21 manager.

The most successful inter-county boss of all time has led the Cats to 11 All-Ireland titles since taking over for the 1999 season.

Kilkenny have also clocked up 15 Leinster titles and eight Allianz Hurling League crowns in that time, establishing an unprecedented period of dominance.

Only Cork (1999 and 2004) and Tipperary (2010 and 2016) have ever come out victorious against a Cody team on All-Ireland final day, with Tipp preventing the second three-in-a-row of his reign in September's decider

Kilkenny will face the winners of Wexford and a Leinster qualifier in the 2017 provincial semi-final.
