Malachy O’Rourke has confirmed that he will continue as Monaghan senior football manager for a fifth successive season.

O’Rourke had been considering his position following the Farneymen’s early exit in the Championship.

Monaghan went out in the qualifiers with a surprise defeat to Longford, having also lost an Ulster semi-final replay to Donegal.

During his time year in charge Monaghan have won the Allianz Division 2 and 3 Leagues and reached an Allianz Division 1 semi-final in 2015.

They have also won two Ulster Championships in 2013 and 2015, and reached the final in 2014.
