Sunday's two Leinster Senior Football Championship semi-finals have been delayed in order to avoid a clash with Ireland's Euro 2016 meeting with France.

Kildare-Westmeath will throw-in at Croke Park at 4.15, with the main-event between All-Ireland champions Dublin and Meath following at 6.35.

They were originally fixed for 2.0 and 4.0 starts respectively, but the Leinster Council have acted quickly to avoid a clash which would likely have affected the attendance at GAA Headquarters.

Ireland meet France on Sunday at 2.0 in the last 16 and the game could go to extra-time and penalties. All three games are live on RTÉ television.

The provincial council released a statement on Wednesday night shortly after Ireland's 1-0 win over Italy: "Leinster GAA can confirm that throw-in times for Sunday’s Leinster senior football championship semi-final double bill will be deferred to avoid a clash with the European Soccer Championships."

The GAA haven't always been so pragmatic and they have often put games on at the same time as major soccer fixtures.
