James Rea is joined by All-Ireland winner Graham Geraghty, Westmeath’s John Heslin, former Wexford forward Mattie Forde and journalist Shane Stapleton to discuss the All-Ireland final between Dublin and Kerry.

Dublin triumphed by three points in what was a damp, and occasionally dour, affair in what Heslin describes as a “poor” game from a fans point of view.

Forde pointed out that the weather conditions dictated the way the game went, with underfoot conditions and a slippy ball conspiring against players repeatedly.

Geraghty, an All-Ireland winner with Meath in 1996 and ’99, said we can blame the conditions for some of the sloppy play, but the overall standard of play was very poor.

“I thought overall the standard of play was very poor. Kick passing, handling. I know you can blame conditions for that, but it was a poor match for me.

“When you get to All-Ireland finals you don’t care what way it is – it’s all about winning.

“It wasn’t pretty to look at but Dublin will have no complaints this morning.”

The former Meath forward said some of the balls played in to the full forward line on both sides made it hard for players to gain possession.

“I don’t think both teams adapted to the conditions yesterday, and that resulted in a poor match.”

The incident involving Kieran Donaghy and Philly McMahon is also discussed, while McMahon is praised for his performance in negating the influence of Colm Cooper.
