Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has confirmed that his county intends to fight the Central Competitions Control Committee over Tiernan McCann's proposed eight-week ban.
McCann made the headlines for all the wrong reasons when he theatrically threw himself to the floor after Monaghan's Darren Hughes appeared to ruffle his hair during last weekend's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final.
Hughes was sent off following the incident.
The CCCC is understood to have proposed an eight-week suspension for "misconduct that is considered to have discredited the association" but speaking at a press conference last night, Harte confirmed that Tyrone will contest the charges.
"Obviously the county board are contesting it, and we’ll see where that takes us," he said.
When asked whether he was surprised by the proposed sanction, Harte added: "I wouldn't use surprise in this case. I’d use a different word, which is not as pleasant as surprise."
Should the punishment be upheld, McCann would be ruled out of Tyrone's All-Ireland semi-final clash with Kerry and September's final, should his side overcome the Kingdom.
