JBM hails 'fantastic' win over Clare

Cork hurlers are still in the championship after their three-point win over Clare in round 2 of the hurling qualifiers at Semple Stadium.

For Jimmy Barry-Murphy, the victory brought about much satisfaction after seeing off in his eyes "a superb team" in Clare.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport after the game, he said: "Before the game I thought we were up against it because Clare have a superb team that is well coached by Davy Fitzgerald.

"I thought if we could hang in there long enough we would give ourselves a chance.

"At the end of today, I thought the lads were fantastic and really rose to the occasion."

JBM, while not wanting to single any one player out, did praise midfielder Bill Cooper's contribution.

"I thought Bill Cooper in particular was incredible for us. He has the heart of a lion for what he showed tonight."

Next up for Cork is a date with Galway in the All-Ireland quarter-final on 26 July
