Donegal fighter Jason Quigley will fight on the undercard of Ami Khan's bout with Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas on 7 May.

The Ballybofey man will face American James De La Rosa in the T-Mobile Arena.

Quyigley, 24, stepped up to eight rounds for the first time in his career against Freddy Lopez in March and barely needed two minutes to claim the tenth win of his pro career in California.

The World Amateur silver medallist has been building towards a higher-profile date and is targeting victory against the Texan to further enhance his reputation.

“I’m delight and excited to be on the undercard of such a big show,” he told Boxing News 24.

“This is exactly the platform I need to be able to show the world what I’m capable of and what I’m here to do. James De La Rosa is simply just another hurdle on my path to be coming a world champion and lifting them belts.”

Khan is stepping up in weight for his world middleweight title face-off with Alvarez, the current WBC champ.

The Briton has fought only four times at welterweight, and has suffered three career defeats, two of which have been by stoppage.

Alvarez defeated Miguel Cotto on points over 12 rounds last November for the belt.
