European Under-23 champion Jason Quigley claimed middleweight gold at the 44th edition of the Usti nad Labem Grand Prix in the Czech Republic.

Current Irish Elite champion Quigley, who boxes out of the Finn Valley BC in Donegal, was 9-4 ahead going into the third round before posting a 14-6 decision over Serbia’s Alexsandr Drenovak, who reached the last-16 at the London 2012 Olympics.

Sean McComb had to settle for silver after losing out to Beijing 2008 Olympian Mikios Varga of Hungary.

McComb, of the Holy Trinity BC in Belfast, was 3-2 ahead after the first round, but the Hungarian was 7-5 in front at the end of the second en route to a 15-10 verdict.

Quigley (gold), McComb (silver), Ross Hickey (bronze) and Tommy McCarthy (bronze) finished in podium positions in the Czech Republic. Hickey had to pull out of his semi-final because of a hand injury.
