Limerick 37 secured a 1-0 friendly win over Bray Wanderers in their first game in senior soccer.
Despite ever-intensifying drizzle, both teams went at this match with purpose.
For much of the first half, the home side seemed to half the upper hand despite relying a lot on the long ball.
Wingers Ross Cosgrave and Kevin Waters kept the Bray back four under pressure and it was from a Waters corner that former Galway Utd striker Dave Goldbey rose highest to head past Chris O’Connor just after the break.
Limerick then had what seemed a good Pat Purcell strike disallowed.
The home side settled after the goal and might have had a second late on but for two good saves from Bray substitute ‘keeper Steve Williams.
