Shelbourne chief executive Ollie Byrne has escaped an assault conviction despite his admission of punching former Shamrock Rovers manager Roddy Collins.
Dublin District Court heard that Byrne punched his rival in the face on the pitch side during a match at Tolka Park in June last year.
Byrne said the dispute arose after comments Collins had made in the media concerning the insolvency of Shelbourne.
Collins told the court that he had accepted an apology from Byrne who he said 'was a good man'.
