Undersoil heating installed at Croke Park
Saturday, 14 October 2006 16:08The GAA have revealed that an undersoil heating system is currently being installed at Croke Park which will guarantee the pitch is playable when rugby and soccer internationals are played at the venue for the first time next spring.
However, stadium director Peter McKenna insists that it was always the intention of the GAA to install the system as part of the overall plan to enhance the playing surface and allow its own games to be played there during cold weather.
The installation process will take about a week and once the soil settles back, players or spectators won't notice the work that has been carried out when the second International Rules test is played at Croke Park on 5 November.
