Leech seals Setanta Cup for Drogs

Mark Leech's extra-time goal won the Setanta Sports Cup for Drogheda United as they made it eight 1-0 wins this season before a packed Tolka Park.

Leech latched onto Stephen Bradley's through ball to fire past Michael Devine 12 minutes into the first period of extra time.

Cork, also beaten by Drogheda in last December's FAI Cup final, have only themselves to blame as they failed to put any substance to an utterly dominant first half display and were left to rue missed chances.

Dan Connor made a terrific double stop to deprive Roy O'Donovan on 16 minutes.

A flowing move down the right then carved Drogheda open five minutes later, but George O'Callaghan was perhaps a little too causal as his side-footer came back off a post when he should have scored.

Drogheda were better from the resumption and Glen Fitzpatrick brought an agile tip-over save from Michael Devine early on as the match became very tight.
