Two depart the Laois squad
Saturday, 15 April 2006 13:57Ahead of tomorrow's NFL Division One semi-final against Kerry, it has emerged that two players have left the Laois panel.
Graiguecullen forward Barry Brennan and Portlaoise's Mick Nolan, the midlanders' second choice goalkeeper, have both opted out of Mick O'Dwyer's squad.
Brennan missed last weekend's 0-10 to 0-10 Division 1B draw with Kildare, having failed to show up for training on Tuesday and Thursday.
Whilst an ankle injury is thought to have aided his decision, Brennan's reasons for leaving have been cited as personal.
Nolan's decision to quit comes after his failure to gain more game-time ahead of regular stopper Fergal Byron. Under-21 'keeper Colm Munnelly has been introduced
as cover for Byron.
Laois have yet to confirm their side for the Kerry clash with defender Aidan Fennelly (torn hamstring) definitely out and half forward Chris Conway (knee ligaments) struggling to be fit.
Defender Padraig Mahon (back spasm) and wing forward Billy Sheehan (dead leg) have recovered from knocks and are expected to start in Killarney.
