Wexford were forced to come from behind to win by 0-18 to 1-11 against Down in a NHL Division 1A clash that served as little more than a warm-up for the relegation semi-finals.
With fifth place and a relegation play-off date with Laois already secured, the Model men travelled to Ballycran with only pride to play for. And a Down win looked on the cards at half-time as Eoin Clarke’s goal saw the hosts lead 1-09 to 0-05.
But Wexford, who have influential forward 'Mitch' Jordan due to go in for a groin operation next week, overhauled Down with late points from Darren Stamp and Rory Jacob.
