Irish middleweight Andy Lee is today expected to name a new opponent for his pro debut at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit on March 10th after Canadian Nichalson Poulard pulled out of the fight.
Limerick man Lee, formerly of the St Francis club on Shannonside, was due to meet Poulard at the 20,000 all seater home of Ice Hockey side the Detroit Red Wings.
However according to southpaw Lee, he now expects to face a Michigan based opponent.
"Poulard has pulled out of the fight and I expect to have my new opponent named today. These things happen in boxing all the time and I am feeling very sharp and confident no matter who I meet," said Lee.
Lee is presently training under famed US coach Emanuel Steward at the Kronk gym in Detroit.
The 2004 Irish Olympian is also on the undercard to the Wladimir Klitschko versus Chris Byrd IBF heavyweight world title clash in Manheim Germany on April 22 next and will also fight in May.
Twenty one year old Lee will join up with Klitschko, who is presently with Steward in Germany, for a training camp in Majorca later this month ahead of both fighters fights in Germany.
