Ireland's rowers will be aiming for success at the World Championships in Japan

The Irish team for the Rowing World Championships in Japan was announced today. Ireland will have five boats competing, three of which are Olympic class boats.

The Championships, due to start this Sunday have been postponed until Tuesday (Aug 30) due to the arrival of Typhoon Mawar, which will create hazardous weather conditions through to Sunday.

The regatta course and boats have been removed from the flood plain in expectation of the high winds of up to 25 meters per second.

There will be no rowing on the water until Sunday when training is scheduled to resume, but the organising committee has put in place 114 indoor rowing machines which will allow the rowers to continue to train.
