Player banned after can incident

Japanese club Kashima Antlers have banned midfielder Yasuto Honda for one match for violent conduct after he flung a beer can back at fans last weekend.

The four-times champions sent an official report on the incident to the J-League on Wednesday following their 3-2 home defeat by table-topping Urawa Reds.

The can, thrown from a section of angry Antlers supporters, narrowly missed Honda who threw it back into the crowd and sparked a minor pitch invasion.

Around 30 fans ran on to confront Honda, who had his hair pulled before being pushed into the goal net.

Honda, who claimed he was cut during the scuffle, was ordered to make a formal apology by Kashima officials.
