The triumphant Cork hurlers, along with the Liam McCarthy Cup, arrived back in their native county this evening. The train was greeted by thousands at Mallow train station with the squad arriving in Cork City shortly before 8pm.

The team then travelled by open top bus from the station to a public reception outside the Imperial Hotel, where they were greeted by a massive crowd.

Meanwhile full-forward Brian Corcoran has played down rumours that he is ready to retire from hurling and insisted that he won't make any decision for at least four months.

"A lot of the Cork lads are now going back into action with their clubs. I have a four-month lay-off and I'm going to enjoy myself. After that, I will then decide on the future," he revealed.

"Even if things hadn't turned out the way they have, I would never have regretted my decision to come back because I was involved with a fantastic bunch of guys and a really great   managerial team."

"There is a fantastic feeling attached to winning an All-Ireland, whether it's your first, second or third. It is also an incredible disappointment to lose one and I think that the setback of last year is what stood to this Cork team on this occasion," Corcoran added.
