Irish Olympian Jamie Costin has been hospitalised following a road accident in Greece yesterday.
The 50-kilometre walker was travelling in a car which was involved in a collision with a lorry.
The accident happened at Porto Heli, about an hour's drive from Athens, where Costin had been at a training camp.
It was confirmed this evening that Costin has suffered a compressed fracture to his back, and is expected to undergo another MRI scan tomorrow.
He had been due to take part in the 50-kilometre final on the 27th of August.
