Dellas confident of a final upset

Greek defender Traianos Dellas, the player who scored the 'silver goal' that took his side to the final of Euro 2004, has warned Portugal that his side are ready to beat the hosts for the second time in the tournament.

Dellas popped up in injury-time of extra-time against the Czech Republic last night, to head home the crucial goal that saw his side book a most unlikely place in the final.

And now, having beat Portugal 2-1 in the opening game of the tournament, Dellas believes that his side have what it takes to repeat that upset.

"The first game does not mean a thing now, a lot of things have changed since then. I think we will face a stronger team than we did in that game, but so will they" Dellas insisted.

"They will find a Greece team with a great soul and a side that is even better than in the opening match," he added.

"I know I gave great joy to my team-mates, to my coach and to my whole country. But we believed in ourselves from the beginning and we achieved it."

Greece will have to face Portugal without influential midfielder Giorgos Karagounis, whose booking last night ensured that he will be suspended for Sunday's final.

Despite missing out on what is the biggest football match in Greece's history, Karagounis insisted that just helping his side get there was enough for him.

"It is one of those things. Of course I would have liked to play but the most important thing is that Greece has reached the final. Whatever happens now it has been a great experience and we must not forget that," he insisted.
