Limerick sailed through to their second successive Munster SFC final at the Gaelic Grounds, defeating an off-colour Waterford 1-18 to 0-07 to set up a renewal of their rivalry with Kerry on July 11.
Conor Mullane's 33rd minute goal, a lovely flowing move from half back up, and eight points (6f) from the boot of skipper Muiris Gavin, who led his side throughout and had them 0-10 to no score in front after 22 minutes.
Waterford, on the other hand, with just three scorers to their name and the almost noose-like title of reigning Munster U21 champions around their neck, are still without a Munster SFC championship win since 1988 and must rebuild for the qualifiers. A total of five wides was indicative of just how many scoring chances they created.
Michael Reidy, Eoin Keating, Conor Fitzgerald and Gavin (2f) had the Shannonsiders five points to the good after 10 minutes.
Waterford plugged away but with John Hearne screwing three points chances wide, they had to wait until the 26th minute before Shane Walsh struck over from a 30-metre free.
A sweeping move, started by Mullane, and finished to Paul Houlihan's net by the half back had Limerick 1-13 to 0-02 in front at the break, with Gavin hitting five and Ger Power notching Waterford's second.
With the introduction of five substitutes, Liam Kearns had his eye already fixed on the final but added five further points with Gavin (0-03), Michael Reidy and John Murphy, one of those replacements, completing their afternoon's work.
Walsh (0-03, 2f), Ger Power and Mick Ahearne earned some scoring practice for the qualifiers late one for Waterford.
There is a worry for Limerick though for the final as goalkeeper Seamus O'Donnell, who had just come back from a leg injury, went over on the same leg to limp off on 57 minutes.
