Celtic have confirmed that they will appeal against the two-match touchline ban handed to manager Martin O'Neill by UEFA earlier today. O'Neill incurred the ban after being banished from the dugout during last week's 1-0 win over Celta Vigo in the UEFA Cup.
'We believe that the punishment does not fit the supposed crime and that the decision of UEFA's disciplinary committee against Martin O'Neill is both draconian and unreasonable. We will definitely be appealing,' said Celtic chief executive Ian McLeod.
If Celtic fail in their bid to have the ban overturned, O'Neill will be unable to take his place in the dugout for his team's return tie against Celta Vigo next week.
