Ireland's Sonia O'Sullivan has finished second in the 3000 metres at the Golden League meet in Zurich tonight. Her preparations for the Sydney Olympics are back on track after she ran tonight's race in a time of 8:27:58, just over one second behind the winner, Romanian Gabriella Szabo. O'Sullivan battled with the Romanian throughout, but Szabo just pulled ahead at the end. The Cork athlete had finished a disappointing 9th in the 5000 metres at the meet in Crystal Palace last week because of an upset stomach but her performance tonight will have given her a much-needed boost just a month before the Olympic Games get underway.
Meanwhile, Ireland's Sinead Delahunty finished 14th in the 1500 metres while Mark Carroll was 12th in the 5000 metres.
