Soccer: Rivaldo rules out Old Trafford move

Barcelona striker Rivaldo has closed the door on any thoughts of a move to Manchester United. The World and European footballer of the year, preparing to face Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the Champions League at Stamford Bridge tomorrow night, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time.

However, the Brazilian striker said, "My agent has had some interesting discussions and some enticing offers, but if I leave Barcelona it will be to join an Italian team. I have always believed that the best league competitions in the world are Spain's Primera Liga and Italy's Serie A. My opinion hasn't changed".

Meanwhile, former World Footballer of the Year and Inter Milan star Ronaldo is set to make his return against Lazio in the Italian Cup final next week. The Brazilian striker has been out of action since undergoing knee surgery in Paris at the end of November.
