Athletes facing bans for testing positive for Nandrolone have recieved a lifline from the IAAF. British Athletes Linford Christie, Mark Richardson, Doug Walker and Gary Cadogan all still face bans from the sport, but may have any sentences reduced if they could prove the steroid Nandrolone got into their system through energy drinks or food supplements. The lifeline was offered by Istvan Gyulai, general secretary of the IAAF, during the European Indoor Championships in Belgium. This latest development in the controversy comes after an Italian athlete successfully sued an American food supplement company having tested positive for nandrolone after taking their product.
