A number of events will be held today to mark the 125th anniversary of the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association.
The GAA was founded on the 1 November 1884 at Hayes Hotel in Thurles, County Tipperary for 'the preservation and cultivation of national pastimes.'
A special mass will take place in Thurles Cathedral at this morning, followed by a ceremony at the Dr Croke monument in the town.
The monument is dedicated to Dr Thomas William Croke, who was an Archbishop of Cashel and Emly and the first Patron of the GAA.
Events will also be held today at the GAA Museum in Croke Park in Dublin, while TG4 will broadcast a special GAA programme schedule.
