Story Notes
Michael Murphy (23) from Blackwater in Co. Wexford travelled to Australia in late 2003. When his 1 year visa expired he had to leave Australia for a matter of days to renew it. He chose to travel to Thailand.
On the 26th December 2004 Michael was staying in Khao Lak when the tsunami struck.
In the immediate aftermath, Paul, Michael's brother travelled to Thailand to find or recover his brother. 5 days later Paul returned to Ireland with no knowledge of what happened Michael.
Michael's remains were not found until the end of April 2005, just over 5 months after the tsunami. In this documentary Michael's mother, Theresa, his sister Anne Maria and two of his brothers Paul and Kevin, speak publicly for the first time on their life over the past year and on the loss of their son and brother Michael.
